The Red Dogs Saloon Band

Dave Murphy: Well-known Wellington based blues guitarist/singer Murphy fronts the Red Dogs Saloon Band, delivering his impassioned interpretations of classic as well as lesser known Muddy Waters, Robert Johnson, Louis Jordan and Mississippi John Hurt songs in his inimitable style. Murphy cut his teeth with the Juke Jivers and Hot Leftovers, and is also a regular on the solo/duo performance circuit with his accoustic guitar. Expect a mixture of pre-war blues, a smattering of country blues as well as some solid, wailing and rocking blues - bring your dancing shoes.

Dougal Speir: After finding notoriety and some fame with the legendary Mangaweka's, Dougal has played with just about everybody from Sonny Day to Darren Watson and then some. Known for his uncanny ability to wring harmonics from even a ukulele (!!), his free-ranging lead guitar work is what makes him a standout player. His guitar duels with Murphy can be incindiary.

Elliotte Fuimaono: The 'Big Easy', rock solid and so, so musical, the in-demand bass player for every occasion and a great singer to boot. Currently also the bass player of choice with Darren Watson's blues band, Elliotte anchors the Dogs with consumate ease and taste.

Roger Watkins: Mr "Two-and-Four Rules" - don't expect solos and flash, just a solid groove and great feel that comes from years on the scene. He's most at home these days with nailing down the blues groove of the Dogs.
